Well, a busy March, although yep I think it went great personally. Despite science exploration and BP projects being utterly painful and bitter experiences. I never knew anyone could be worse than a certain infamous International Student I had the utter misfortune (to put it very, very, mildly) of working with twice.

But yep. March went great. Really well. Even if this post shows no hint of enthusiasm. None at all. None. None.

Fine, I’m just cranky. Busy last two weeks of the normal term. But what’s new, eh?

What’s new? Hmmm.

Yes, I’m freaked out. Couldn’t log in just now to Wordpress. Panicked lah! Haha. Especially since I forgot to backup my posts like I told myself too. Have done so. Just realised my version of shoutbox was still the compromised version. I have no idea why though, because I thought I downloaded the latest one. Will check again tonight, with a new version of Wordpress too.

Of course, this is assuming my account was compromised due to hacking, and not someone who knows my password. I mean, if that happens, well, that’s really scary, ain’t it?

I just hope it’s an April’s Fools joke. :S

Edit: I just found a file planted into one of my directories, that allows access to my site contents. This is freaky. Bleah.

Apparently an old marketing joke, you can find all around the Internet. Someone added a number 10 though to give it a current spin. Emailed by Wen Wen. =) And yeah, you may have noticed the inconsistencies in writing style — the wonders of how an original joke can be extended and added on through multiple iterations.

1. You see a gorgeous girl at a party. You go up to her and say, “I am very rich. Marry me!” That’s direct marketing.

Yep, the first time I’ve ever faced hacking of any kind. Reminds me of the time I accessed Yue-En’s IVLE account back in AJC when their stupid system made the default password your NRIC number. Pretty stupid higher-ups in AJC. But I digress. This morning, while doing my daily check on my website (it brings a smile to my face knowing just how good I am) everything seemed perfectly fine. Until I actually noticed something different to the title of my site. It read: “Hack3d… Hack3d” haha.

Point to note: I’m a designer first, social blogger second. Thus things as simple as taking screenshots of interesting events aren’t intuitive to me. Thus no evidence. Heh.

Anyway, I panicked, and that spelt the end of me paying attention to AMA class. The first thing I did was try to log in Wordpress, and well I couldn’t and so I panicked more. Haha. Next, I tried to log in to my cPanel (geek alert) and well I could. Cue a huge sigh of relief. It meant the hack was contained to my Wordpress. I went to search about how I could reset my Wordpress password and well I’m glad I could do it via phpAdmin. It was then when I finally found out the culprit — this Indonesian fella with the pseudonym vrodo. Turns out there was a vulnerability with my shoutbox, and this vrodo piece of shit used a script to hack into my account. I’m not sure why my entire site wasn’t defaced though (as with the many other affected sites) but I’m just glad he didn’t. Entirely relieved actually. I fixed the vulnerability as soon as I could, and well I declare my site safe.

A pretty eventful day then haha. Pretty thankful I’m not a tech idiot! (points at Chun Yong)

Edit: Indeed, I have been naive. My blog entries for February have all been erased. Well done. Fuck you, vrodo.

Fuck. A word I don’t use easily. Ok fine, I still do but still sparingly, haha. But yeah, in a really bad mood. Seriously, everything that could have gone wrong for a presentation went wrong. It didn’t help that the run-up wasn’t perfect. The recurring problem has always been a lack of responsibility. When has there been a meeting when everyone was on time? Fine, I wasn’t early twice, but one was due to my midterm exam which everyone knew about, and the other I did message everyone early to say I was going to be late — only to find that only Jasmine was earlier than me. Seriously. You know, things could have easily been glossed over had the end-product been okay, as was our report. But when I arrived in school at the agreed time of 8am, only to see Celest alone, you knew that it wasn’t going to be a good day.

I just didn’t know it was going to be that bad.

A good sleep cures only sleep debt, I’ve found. Still, at least it’s over.

One thing I’ve learned — it doesn’t matter how well or how perfect your day has been; all it takes is one piece of bad/sad news to break your day. C’est la vie, as I like to say. How often is the opposite true, that good news turn around your entire day?

I have to admit, I was pretty happy last night. Well, I was.

And so I bid farewell to Jane. The IT Show came at just the right time lah, for me to get an MP3 player. But then again, I was at the start of a pretty hectic 3 weeks. Project deadlines, a 40% mid term, IVP, among other things. Woohoo! But I digress.

Initially, I wanted to go for the Samsung YP-S5, but alas pragmatism took over. Haha. I was wondering why in the world would I want to carry around two “phones” in my pockets. Not enough room lah, if you know what I mean. I already know that I wasn’t going to use the speakers a lot, and I wanted it just because I could. =) But yeah, in the end I thought I would be better off with a tiny mp3 player, particularly because it would be inconvenient for me to bring out if I don’t bring a bag.

So I kept researching online (postponing other unimportant stuff like project reports) and well, to cut the story short since I can’t really be bothered to explain it all, I got a 2GB Samsung YP-U3 at a steal of $129 with free travel adaptor.

Yeah, it’s damn colourful, but what do you know? I chose the black one. How happening. Still need a name for it though. As Luyi pointed out, it has to be a female name. Well, I’m too busy ripping my aunt’s CDs into my laptop right now. Another day when I have inspiration, and when I need to postpone work again.
