After 15 weeks of internship (of which I had 2 days’ MC, 3 days leave) I’m finally going to be enjoying my holidays without work as a distraction. Haha. Working at a really small audit firm has been quite an experience, and thankfully I’ve learned a lot from it. If James Wong’s audit class was all about theory, then this internship experience is the perfect practical complement. What seemed entirely foreign during class became all apparent and entirely relevant during internship. The last few weeks even showed a little of how dark an audit firm could be, the little things that small companies do in order to survive in this cruel business world (both the clients and us, haha.)
Spent the last day of work, well, doing work although the last 2 hours saw me slacking away, preparing my things to handover. And as luck would have it, I also had to clear last minute shit, so I couldn’t leave the office on time. Haha. After work, a few of us went to K, but baulked at the horrid pricing of $30/person. Well, it was a Friday evening after all. What happens next highlights one of the perks of working in Chinatown — we remembered seeing a place named Ten Dollars Club, Family K.T.V. Karaoke nearby! Guess where we went then? =) The place did look quite run-down, and the place even had a room behind their kitchen! And when I say that, I mean we had to walk through their kitchen in order to get to their room! Like what the hell?! Haha, but for $12 (peak rates) it was really worth it, and there was free-flow of drinks.
After K, Qiaoqin brought us to 记得吃 for dessert, where she showed her auntie-ness by the way she described all the health benefits of the humble 芝麻湖. Haha! A great way for me to end internship I guess. And so it’s time for me to catch up on sleep, complete various side projects, and await the start of a new school term.
