What can I say? I’m destined to be the earliest for everything. Must be karma — retribution for being late all the time during those Presby days. I reached Clarke Quay MRT station 10 minutes late, and on purpose, but still I was a good 10 minutes than the next person, Kin Wee. And the rest didn’t actually rush down. =) Anyway, Weiyang came down! I’ve never seen him since those Presby days. And the man himself Rensheng came back home with a frigging nice goatee.
Later, we literally walked Clarke Quay many times over! We simply couldn’t find a place to settle down! Hooters had a private function, and Brewerkz had a 1-hour waiting line. The other restaurants we walked past were either full or expensive-looking. Haha. Just when we were about to go to Liang Court for whatever was waiting for us (hell, maybe even McDonald’s), Kin Wee received a call from Riverside Indonesian Restuarant — there were seats! In the end, after about an hour of walking around, crossing the darn bridge 5 times.
Luckily, the food was fine, and cheap! For $10 per person (exlucing all the silly charges) we had a six-course meal with free-flow of rice. It was funny though, as we had 2 choices per course, and the eight of us decided to get one of each (one course for 4 people). So when the dishes came, we kept passing the dishes around to share. Damn pathetic. 8 sticks of satay, so one for everyone. 2 sticks of otah-otah, shared by everyone. One large chicken thigh, shared by everyone again! So while we had variety, it wasn’t particularly satisfying, as we had only a little of everything. Still, a good meal! I had lots and lots of rice, haha.
We walked over to The Settlers, but it was full of sad, hopeless people with no dates on Christmas Eve’s eve. After about 10 minutes of useless banter, we decided to go down to Tanjong Pagar and just chill. We looked damn out of place lah. I don’t think I saw anyone younger than us down that stretch of pubs and bars and KTV lounges. We spent another 10 minutes deciding which bar to enter (they all looked, well, intriguing ;) while a few of them contemplated booking a room at 新天地. Haha. In the end, we entered the classiest-sounding one (and as Rensheng said, he wanted to see what’s happening those opaque, closed doors) and it turned out to be quite nice. Legend! We shared a bottle of Chivas, but I didn’t drink much. We kept playing those stupid drinking games over and over again though.
Well, it’s always great to be out with the guys. Next up, Cindy’s party!
