A really ridiculous incident happened when my family did our weekly (not so weekly anymore actually, but not the point) trip to my grandma’s place yesterday. Well, unlike most condos the one at my grandma’s place have security guards who at least put up a convincing facade that they’re doing a security job. I mean, we all know that security guards in Singapore only need to stay awake and do nothing, right? So the security here takes down the car number as well as the unit number that the visitor is visiting, and gives you this visitor pass which you have to display lah. Not bad, eh?
Well, apparently the management committee don’t feel secure at all. So they implemented new security measures. Like getting this obnoxious security guard to take down my dad’s NRIC number. Like seriously, what in the world?! Taking down the NRIC was one thing, and I think my dad would have given it to him, although my dad insisted on writing down the NRIC on the form. Guess what the darn guard said? He wanted my dad to show his pink I/C so that he could copy down the number. Haha, my dad went mad and yeah, went along the lines of him refusing to give his NRIC number and telling the guard he would be parking in the estate with or without the vehicle pass. And the stupid guard, all he could say was “I don’t know what will happen to your car. If anything happens it’s not my fault.”
Haha, seriously, this is ridiculous. Taking down the NRIC number is overkill enough, but now you even want to look at the physical card. You might as well make visitors exchange their driving licenses for goodness sake. What would I have done had I been driving the car yesterday? I really don’t know. I think I probably would have given my NRIC number out, and I wonder whether I would have actually passed my driving license (I don’t bring my NRIC out) over. But certainly, if I did have the presence of mind like my dad to realise how stupid the situation was, I would probably have snapped too. Although I don’t think I would have been so insistent on parking inside. The first thing in my head would probably be drive out and think through matters. Haha.
Well, another lesson learnt from dad. Sometimes, I do things without thinking, and only think after I do it. Only to realise I did something stupid. Haha.
