Phew! Two weeks of being really busy, starting with the marketing mini-project and quiz last week, the 48-hour Inclusive Design Challenge over the weekend, Singapore versus Thailand at the National Stadium and then my FIIM quiz on Thursday. Jam-packed I tell you — I’ve forgotten what it’s like to have fun! Haha.
The design challenge was quite an experience, working with NAFA fashion design students over what ended up to be product design. How more mis-matched could that be? Haha. It was hilarious from my perspective, and it turns out that fashion design students are really bad at engineering. They plainly rejected my comments regarding the structural aspects of our design (a clothes hanger with an arm so that short people and the wheelchair-bound can reach it from a low height) because it would mean the design of the hanger would be compromised. I mean, I can’t help it if they can’t visualise what I can right? In the end, during the judging session the comments were all on the structural aspects. Haha. But oh well, you really can’t fault us. =) All in all, the challenge at least opened up some aspects of the design industry for me, and with this event I’ve completed my 80 hours of community service! Ha!
The rest of the week was pretty frantic, especially since I decided to go watch Singapore versus Thailand. I barely had time to study for the FIIM quiz already, but still I went to the National Stadium with the guys just 12 hours before the quiz. Haha. Still, the experience was worth it! The National Stadium is really a remarkable, nostalgic place, an icon of Singapore by itself. It’s really sad that it’s going to be torn down, and no wonder then that it was a packed stadium on Wednesday. And what a way to host its last match — a frigging walkout by the Thai team! It wasn’t a good match by any standards, but still an eventful one. Aaaah, memories! From my first match in Primary 3, watching Johor versus Singapore, to the 1993 SEA Games Final, to a few other matches, including the first Tiger Cup final, the Singapore versus Liverpool friendly, the Singapore 0-4 Malaysia massace, the last Tiger Cup final and then last Wednesday’s match. I think that’s all, although of course I’ve been to the National Day Parade for a few times, including once performing public duty for St John. And of course, I was on duty for the rehearsals during NS. Haha.
FIIM quiz was alright. Haha, at least I hope so. I’ve had quite a lot of free time since, and have been chucking at Campus Green like there’s no school. Haha. Have to make up for it lah, because I couldn’t go for training today due to my tax workshop. And there were more than 20 people at Bishan Park today. A record crowd since the Singapore Opens. It looks like the club is going strong into the Summer. =) We’ll see how it goes.
Chinese New Year is coming! More great food! Woohoo!
