TGIF my ass. Haha. Yesterday was the culmination of quite a busy week, having to submit the tax project report on Tuesday, and studying for the tax and marketing quizzes yesterday. And on Wednesday I had a last-minute call from Ernst & Young, for an interview (after being rejected once.) A pleasant surprise, yes, but I had to schedule my interview within two days. Aargh!
So yesterday morning began with a trip to the beautiful One Raffles Quay building for the internship interview at EY. Things went really well I guess, considering that the interviewer was more worried I didn’t understand the scope of IT auditing. And it seems like I’m the only person in this so-called 2nd shortlist that she didn’t know about. Haha. I’m just glad that for whatever reason EY decided to ask me to come down for the interview despite rejecting me once, I do have another chance. Haha, and ORQ is just opposite my dad’s place! More free morning rides. Haha.
So I made my way back to school to study marketing for an hour, in an absolutely high state. Haha, I really felt good about the interview. And so I decided to give Clara a treat at Spinelli Coffee Raffles City, rather than erm, Armenian Street. Haha. I didn’t even know Spinelli had set lunches until I walked past it on the way to the MRT station. It was surprisingly quite filling, helped by the carbohydrates I guess. Haha. There was a giant sausage, but not blistered and crunchy but rather done in a very nice, high class way. Haha, whatever that means. The meat was soft and delicious lah. Then there were lots of parsley potatoes as well as a garden salad. They looked really small, but the meal filled my stomach somehow. Haha.
Studying for marketing came next. Well, I did the best I could anyway and it turned out pretty alright. I spent all of one minute discussing answers with everyone else, before rushing off to study for my tax quiz. Haha. And really, I didn’t have time (including the past few days) to finish all the topics. And so I went into the quiz hoping that everything that I didn’t know wouldn’t come out. Haha, and amazingly it happened, at least for the better part. Haha. A huge sigh of relief before the exams then.
I entered my marketing meeting (yes, TGIF indeed) all high and everything. Everyone knew I couldn’t concentrate lah. Haha. Damn it I was going crazy. So I entered the meeting late (because of quiz) and exited it early as I had to meet Amy for some turtle action. Haha. We went to Suntec to watch TMNT, and I have to say that I’m kind of disappointed. Well, it was quite kiddish, which couldn’t be helped really, and of course I had to accept it. The animation was really great, and the first half of the story went quite well (considering the kiddish nature) although the sight of anorexic turtles and a very anorexic April O’Neil (who has since learned to fight apparently) was disturbing. Things went downhill though after the very nicely-done Leonardo-Raphael showdown. What was supposed to be the grandest fight in all of turtle history (4 turtles against 4 ancient warriors) became just an after-thought. And it exposed the movie’s biggest flaw — the over-emphasis of Leonardo and Raphael, ignoring Michelangelo and Donatello completely. A really big mistake if you ask me. I love the turtles for all 4 of them lah. Oh well. Nonetheless, I enjoyed the movie. Cartoony, but they looked great. The turtles are back.
