Best Buddies

I’ve never really been comfortable with group dynamics. I’m just not that good at it. I’m the kind of guy who would rather hang out and get to know a person individually, than to partake in group outings. Not to say that such group bonds are superficial, because they definitely aren’t, but you do have a richer bond when you interact at an individual level.
Well, more on that another day. The point of this post is that there is only one group of friends, one group of buddies that I’m truly comfortable in. That of course is the group of guys from Secondary school. Funny how we never got in touch with each other during JC and NS (helps that I was outside the loop, and even now, the only one at SMU) but we’ve been meeting really often since our uni days have started. Funny indeed. It’s been 2 years of uni life, and the time has come when we feel that the end is nigh. It started with Clarence leaving for Shanghai for his industrial attachment, and Yue-En later this month for his 1-year exchange to Sweden, the land of meatballs. The lot of NTU accountancy students are also in their last year, and I do wonder if our impromptu meetings will end. I doubt I will ever stop visting Junyang thogh, as long as they don’t show Liverpool matches on free tv. =)
Last Saturday the guys decided to organise a dinner to celebrate my birthday. Yes, an entire 2 weeks early and if I had it my way I would have something for Yue-En organised first. But well, their school terms has already started, so it ain’t fair on my part to mess up with their study plans. Haha. We had dinner at Cafe Cartel J8, and well I was surprised at the depth of changes there was to the system. Not that the food or service got any better. Heh. We went to Junyang’s place for some Winning Eleven, and managed to catch sight of Stevie G’s brilliant free kick. This guy just never fails to amaze me. Haha. As for my present, well they got me a portable speaker system for me, probably a random gift (I’m quite sure the only thing they know about me is Liverpool and Frisbee) but it was welcome — my new laptop’s speakers are quite bad. Haha! So thanks guys!
And now that the camera is back in action, well I’ve taken a photo of my t-shirt from Adventure Camp in 1999. Yes, I’ve been wearing it for 8 years! It is the most comfortable t-shirt I’ve ever worn. And my favourite. Adventure Camp was of course the first activity 3 Endurance had as a class, and while I can’t remember what we did (besides countless push-ups for no idea why, a soaking wet tent shared by 8 guys, and a night walk alongside shaking cars) I remember we had lots of fun. Haha, how else could it end up?

Of course, you must know that the only reason why I took a photo of this, is because the t-shirt has finally succumbed to wear and tear. The seams along the shoulders have split, rendering it unwearable, while the sleeves have long taken a different hue from the rest of the t-shirt (read: yellow.) Now that I’ve finally been able to take a photo of it, I guess it’s time for it to take on a new life as my favourite rag.
