Accounting for Life, for Now

Posted 10/02/07 22:53 by fang under Commentary, School.

Well, initially I had a thought about explaining why I chose Accounting as my degree course, and also to answer once and for all why I keep saying I chose it because it was the first on my shortlist when sorted in alphabetical order (and so Zoology would have been my last choice.) Is it really true, you ask?

Like I said, I initially had that thought. Haha, but I thought how cool it would be if I explained it as my last post of University life. Perhaps! So hopefully 2 years and just about 2 months from now, I will finally answer the question of life.

I’ve set my sights on a double degree in Accountancy and Business Management, with a major in Marketing. It’s really a decision that comes naturally. I simply have not much inclination towards Finance. Haha. Which kind of explains my problems with my FIIM (Financial Instruments, Institutions and Markets) course this semester. Apart from the fact that I have an instructor whose greatest strength is to cause students to shut off during class, the content itself is one so foreign, so technical to me that only old-fashioned studying can save me this time. Haha. Well, I really need the grades this term to ensure my double degree application goes through. Hard work, dude, you can’t escape it, and you’ve been sacrificing so many Frisbee trainings you better make it worth it. You have to. Haha.

And so I guess this is a message to my brother, who just got his O-level results and apart from playing games, watching anime and finishing my snacks before I even start them, he is a voyeur who visits my blog among others (I do not like it. Grrr.) You may or may not like a life in JC, or a life in a JC you don’t like. But life is all about choices — choose them wisely, and you jolly well stick to it. You can’t change your decision, but you can always make a new one. But what is your goal in life? Find out, and make sure that whatever decision you make, is always towards this goal.
